the bronchial tree is endodermal in origin while the distal portion of the lung is of mesodermal origin and an overgrowth of the terminal bronchioles occurs at the expense of the saccular spaces. this appears histologically as: increase in the adenomatoid structures in the lung with the formation of cysts a polypoid growth of the mucosa lined by respiratory or cuboidal epithelium. increased elastic tissue absence of inflammatory charge absence of cartilage.<\/p>\n<p>stocker described 3 types of cystic adenomatoid malformation of the lung (caml) largely based on the size of the cysts seen.<\/p>\n<p>type i caml: large cysts greater than 1 cm in diameter are present. the pathology is thought to occur before the 9th menstrual week.<br \/>\ntype ii caml: multiple small cysts less than 1 cm in diameter are present and lesion is thought to occur before the 7th menstrual week.<br \/>\ntype iii caml: non-cystic (solid) or microcystic in appearance with the pathology occurring prior to the 5th menstrual
